Curitiba, considered the best city to live in, in Brazil, is the Capital of Parana State. The City is beautiful and well planned; an amalgamation of well maintained recreational parks, a proficient transport system and developed road network.

The City was founded in 1693 as a residential camp for the nearby gold mines. The City now has an estimated population of 1.75 million people, many of whom are migrants from Eastern Europe.

Curitiba is also an educational centre being home to the Federal University of Parana and a number of specialist training centers.

Transport in Curitiba:

The city is served by an efficient and frequent bus transport network that comprehensively covers most parts of Curitiba. No vehicles except buses are allowed within the City Centre, and walking here can be a pleasant activity while visiting nearby attractions.
Curitiba is served by the Afonso Pena International Airport which caters for interstate flights as well.

Tourism:

Though not as socially active as other Brazilian Cities, Curitiba is home to a number of well maintained historical buildings which include; churches and theatres. There are also a number of museums, opera houses, botanical gardens (notably the Jardim Botanico) and parks. Most of these are easily within reach and you can visit them on foot while in the City Centre.
